What is a Registered Behavior Technician?
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT®) is a paraprofessional who works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or similar certified professional. Their primary responsibility is the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services, including data collection and assisting in assessments. RBTs do not design intervention plans but follow the guidance and instructions provided by their supervisors. They are required to maintain clear communication with their supervisors, adhere to ethical guidelines, and participate in ongoing training and supervision. The work performed by an RBT is closely monitored to ensure it meets professional standards.
